Registration is now open for the third inroads Global Member Gathering in Mombasa, Kenya on February 10 – 14, 2020. Learning from member input and experiences with past meetings, we designed a slightly different process for registering and for applying for financial support. You can register, apply for funding from inroads, and share what and how you would like to share your work with other participants in this one form.

What is an inroads Global Member gathering?

Participants can look forward to a participatory, interactive, five-day gathering in Mombasa. Past gatherings have been described as abortion and activist “camp” and as valuable spaces to connect with new and familiar colleagues. They have also resulted in new and innovative collaborations and projects. We expect to have participants from many countries and all regions of the world joining together to connect and learn from one another throughout the course of the five day workshop. What information do you need to be able to fill out this form?

Before you complete the registration and application form, please make sure you have joined the network and gather information considering the following Q&A:

How many people from your organization are planning to register?

Due to size restraints, we can only accommodate two individuals from any member organization. If you are a country office, member association, or chapter of a larger organization (such as IPPF, Ipas, Medical Students for Choice, etc.), then we mean the specific country office, not the larger organization.

Are you planning to apply for funding?

If so, you must complete the registration and application form by September 24, 2019 at 12:00am GMT. Please consider carefully your funding requests and whether you have other possible sources of funding. If you apply for funding, you will be contacted by inroads staff to notify you of the status of your application by October 9, 2019.

Do you have your own funding?

If you are not planning to apply for funding from inroads, you must complete the registration form by October 30, 2019 at 12:00am GMT. 

What are you ready to share with fellow inroads members?

We are asking you to explain in this form what you would like to share with other members at the gathering in Mombasa. So be prepared to complete questions about how you work to end or understand stigma and discrimination related to abortion and what kind of work you are ready to share with others at this gathering, as well as what format you are ready to share. Formats at inroads gatherings can include:

• Co-facilitating plenary or break-out sessions with other inroads members
• Demonstrating part of an activity or intervention
• Hosting a table at the Exchange Festival (the inroads version of poster sessions and tabling at conferences)
• Sharing your art or media at the inroads Film and Arts Festival
• Being ready to host an open space session
• Note: If having your work considered for sharing and accepted will help you obtain funding or other approvals to attend, you will be able to let us know on the registration form

Do you want to Volunteer?

*New this year: There are many different ways that members can contribute to building the supportive and generative space that is an inroads Global Member Gathering. This year, the registration form will be asking about different ways you might wish to volunteer. These responses are optional and will not be part of any funding selection.

Do you require translation?

inroads member gatherings are participatory events with large and small group interactions. For this inroads Global Member Gathering, we will conduct activities and prepare content in English. Because of the participatory nature of these gatherings, translation involves being paired with inroads members who speak your language and are willing to partner up during sessions and activities

• December 2019 – January 2020: Contact from the inroads Content Planning team about sharing your work, participating in sessions, and being part of the participatory agenda
