On International Safe Abortion Day, we honor the solidarity at the heart of the abortion justice movements!

As oppressive systems keep working together and across borders to control our bodies, our human rights, and our access to fundamental abortion healthcare, we reaffirm the need and commitment to nurture solidarity across the abortion justice ecosystem.  

For us, solidarity is best expressed through action. At inroads:

Solidarity means shifting narratives and power to ensure that the needs and experiences of women, trans, and non-binary people having abortions—especially those often left behind—are at the center of our movements, policies, and practices.

Solidarity means creating safe and brave spaces where abortion justice leaders and changemakers across fields, regions, and movements can come together. Weaving solidarity spaces for mutual learning, strategizing, care, and building the collective power needed to resist & transform stigma and criminalization.

Solidarity means moving and distributing funding to ‘support the power and care of abortion justice groups‘ expanding rights and access on the frontlines. Sharing the burden and working to bring more support and resources for their vital work, both with grantmaking for groups and with robust funding for movement leaders to participate and share their wisdom at key movement spaces.

Solidarity means amplifying the vision, dreams, and power of grassroots leaders and ensuring we build intersectional and inclusive movements for our collective liberation.

Solidarity also means collaborating with allies to craft and share materials for the International Safe Abortion Day campaign, ensuring that activists and local movements have the tools and power they need to act together.
